Cartoon Menagerie is a small series that pays homage to the iconic cartoons of my childhood, drawing inspiration from film, television, and video games. I reimagine nostalgic characters and scenes in watercolor and gouache on cold-pressed watercolor paper, with each piece measuring 16” x 20”.
In this series, I explore how wild animals are often portrayed in cartoons—made approachable and familiar, much like the curated displays in old menageries. By placing these animated figures in more realistic forms and settings, I highlight the surreal nature of these depictions while celebrating the vibrant color and playful spirit that define these memories.
Each painting is part of a larger menagerie of childhood recollections, turning familiar cartoons into standalone nostalgic showpieces. Through detailed settings and bold color, I aim to create a contrast between the fantastical and the real, inviting viewers to see these beloved characters in a new and imaginative light.

This artwork centers on the iconic Pink Panther, blending subtle nods to both the classic films and animated series, while reimagining the panther as an unexpected house pet. The piece plays with the contrast of the suave, mischievous character within the mundane setting of domestic life.

Featuring the colorful Toucan Sam, this piece brings a playful twist to the familiar mascot. Set within an elegant topiary garden estate, the toucan indulges in a whimsical cereal bath, a quirky take on the familiar brand image surrounded by nature’s beauty.
